At this place Lakshman shot an arrow and made a hole in the ground.

Ganges water is considered the most sacred. It is said that bathing in it brings salvation. Drinking its water cures all diseases. The river Ganga usually flows only at selected places. So Ganges water can be obtained only from there. But in the Ramayana period, for the sake of mother Sita, Lakshmana pierced the ground and removed the water of Ganga. Today this place is famous as the famous pilgrimage Patalganga.

Here Lakshman shot an arrow into the Ganges: According to mythology, Rama, Sita and Lakshmana passed through the mountain forest during their 14 years of exile. Mother Sita’s throat felt dry here. To quench his thirst, Lakshman drew his arrow and went to the ground in remembrance of Mother Ganga. Due to which a big hole fell in the earth and the water of Ganga started flowing out of it. Now in Tretayug this place is known as Patalganga. It is located in Nuapada district of Odisha.

Patalganga is located 85 km from Nuapada and 10 km from Bowden in the middle of Gurudongar mountains. It is said that the water here never dries up. Abyssal water is also compared to Ganges water. Bathing in it not only washes away sins but also gives salvation to a person. It is also believed that if you bathe in the waters of the abyss, all kinds of diseases are eliminated.

The pool here is mysterious: There is a pool in the abyss. The water of the abyss rises from the earth and collects in this tank. The specialty of this pool is that its water level is always the same. Then there is intense heat or torrential rain. Its water level does not fluctuate. Scientists have not been able to find the cause.

Earlier people also used to bathe in this pool. But now it has been banned. However, you can definitely take this pool water with you in a bottle. Two new pools have been created if you want to take a shower there as soon as possible. Water comes from the main tank in this new tank made for men and women.

Hanging a coconut on a tree completes the mental work: There is also a banyan tree at this place. This is the same tree in the shade of which Lord Rama, Mother Sita and Lakshmana were resting. It is said that the footprints of all three are still visible here. At the same time, there is a unique belief attached to this Vat tree. Thus if you say any wish of your mind and tie coconut on this tree then your wish is definitely fulfilled.

If you come here for sightseeing, apart from Patalganga, you can see more than 100 year old temples like Jagannath Temple, Mahamrutyunjaya Shiva Temple, Radhakrishna Temple, Durga Temple, Gayatri Temple and Lekh Mahima Math. Fairs are also organized here on festivals like Magh Purnima, Vaishakh Purnima, Rathyatra, Shivratri, Janmashtami, Navratri. On the other hand, in the month of Sawan, a large number of Kanwaris come here to fetch holy water. After this, water anointing is done in the Mahamrutyunjaya Shiva temple present here.
